Antonio Conte and Stefano Pioli will meet tonight 15 years to the day since the first time they faced off against each other as head coaches.
As Calciomercato.com recall, the date was 8 March 2008 when at the Stadio Carlo Zecchini in Grosseto the two coaches faced each other for the first time in a Serie B game between Grosseto and Bari match, a game which finished 2-2.
Back then, the current Rossoneri coach led the Tuscan side (Grosseto), while the Spurs coach sat on the bench for the Apulians. The goals were scored by Lazzari and Danilevicius for the hosts, and Cavalli netted a brace for the away side.
Since then each have been on an up and down journey that has seen them coach the likes of Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina (Pioli) plus Chelsea, Juventus and Inter (Conte). Now, after a decade and a half has passed, the music has changed and it will be the Champions League anthem tonight.
