Should have seen it coming: All the key stats from Milan’s draw against Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

Neither AC Milan nor Inter managed to put an end to their respective winless runs as they played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their cup semi-final.

It was a cagey 90 minutes as we might have expected in the third meeting of the season between the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri where Pioli’s side perhaps had the better chances but lacked the quality needed in the final third. Here are the main stats from the game, via the official website

➤ Milan and Inter have drawn each of their last four meetings at the semi-final stage of a knock-out competition (1-1 in the Coppa Italia in 1985, 0-0 and 1-1 in the Champions League in 2003, 0-0 tonight).

➤ Milan have remained undefeated (W1, D2) for at least three games against Inter in the same season for the first time since 2004-05.

➤ Fikayo Tomori has played his 50th game in all competitions with Milan. The English defender marked the occasion in the same fashion as his debut: a Derby in the Coppa Italia.

➤ After the 1-1 draw in November in Serie A, Milan and Inter have drawn two derbies in a row hosted by Rossoneri in all competitions for the first time since 1992-93.

➤ Milan have remained unbeaten in eight of their last nine matches against Inter in matches in the Coppa Italia, Champions League and Supercoppa Italiana (W4, D4).

➤ Starting from 2017-18, Milan are the side to have kept the most clean sheets in the Coppa Italia: 12, out of 18 games played.
