Against Real Madrid, Rafael Leao has a ‘mission’ to impress AC Milan, the coach, and any interested parties, a report has suggested.
This season has been challenging for Leao. The star is no longer shining as he once did, and Milan are searching for answers. Paulo Fonseca’s recent bravery to bench the winger has created questions about the lack of relationship between the duo, but there can be no questions on Tuesday.
At the weekend, Fonseca stated that the Portuguese would return against Madrid, with the idea of fresh Leao causing added problems for the Los Blancos defence. However, this is reliant on the No.10 being at his best.
This morning, Gazzetta dello Sport wrote that the winger is on a mission. Therefore, there is no better stage than the Bernabeu to return to your best. After three games on the bench, there is a chance to prove to everyone that he is still the Leao of old, against one of the best clubs in the world.
On the opposing side, there is a similar example. Vinicius Junior, who was recently snubbed for the Ballon d’Or, faced challenges in the early periods of his Madrid career, and under Carlo Ancelotti, he had to evolve. Now, he is considered one of the best players in the world – a level that Leao wants to reach.
Tuesday offers Leao a chance to impress the club, the manager, and possibly other clubs. A positive performance could be the start of his next chapter at Milan or elsewhere, but it must start with a return of the Rossoneri’s No.10 at his best.
I hope he proves everyone wrong.
Btw Vini Jr is unhappy at Real but he still manages to do the business (as per his contract)
When has he shined in UCL? Against a top club? I’d love to see him scoring a hat-trick but the odds are that it’s the Junior one who will do that.
