Suso responds to critics after winner vs. SPAL: “A goal doesn’t change history”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan winger Suso has admitted the criticism he and his team-mates have received is justified, but that the win against SPAL can get the Rossoneri back on the road to recovery.

The Rossoneri avoided a Halloween scare on Thursday night as they recorded a narrow 1-0 win over a side who hadn’t managed to pick up and away point or score an away goal all season.

It took 62 minutes to break down their resolute visitors, and it arrived when Suso off the bench not long into the second half to convert a beautiful free-kick from around 22 yards out.

Fans have recently reacted angrily to Suso’s performances with many claiming he should be benched, and the hashtag #SusoOut even trended in Italy.

They got their wish on Thursday night, but the 25-year-old answered his critics with a delightful strike, and reacted on his official Instagram account.

“A goal doesn’t change history. It doesn’t erase a negative moment. The whistles are well-deserved, the criticism just,” Suso said.

“A goal makes us breathe and makes us understand that the road is the right one. But it’s long. I play in Milan and I support Milan. It doesn’t matter who plays or who scores.

“It’s up to us, everyone, to decide our future now. There are 2 games before the break. Let’s believe. Because everything is still possible. Always, always, forza @acmilan 🔴⚫💪. #Suso8”
