Theo Hernandez praises Milan for ‘excellent match’ against Marseille and thanks ‘magnificent’ crowd

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan got another very useful 90 minutes under their belt in a 2-0 friendly win against Marseille at the Stade Velodrome, and Theo Hernandez believes they played an ‘excellent match’.

Milan scored both goals in the first half as Junior Messias added to his preseason tally with a lovely curling finish from a Brahim Diaz pass, and then he turned provider as Olivier Giroud marked his return to his home country with a tidy finish.

After the 5-0 victory against Wolfsberger in Austria on Wednesday night, in addition to the win over FC Köln in Germany earlier this months, it means that Stefano Pioli’s men have certainly coped well in their travels around Europe bar the 3-2 loss to ZTE in Hungary.

At the end of the game Theo Hernandez was interviewed on the sidelines by Sportitalia and he reflected on what was not only a very positive result back in his homeland but was also a dominant performance.

“We played an excellent match. We have achieved great success,” he said (via MilanNews).

On the Velodrome: “A truly magnificent environment, a very warm crowd.”

On Marseille: “I think Marseille have a good team, it was an even match.”

On the objectives for the season: “We are working well, obviously we will make conclusions at the end.”

  1. He was being nice when he said that Marseille have a good team and it was an even match – it was not an even match, it was total domination by Milan.
