CM: Resisting PSG, Man City and Chelsea to keep word to Maldini – details of Theo’s imminent renewal

By Oliver Fisher -

The future of Theo Hernandez seems set to be with AC Milan for years to come as the defender is closing in on renewing his contract, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, the full-back has been able to resist the temptation of three top European clubs in PSG, Manchester City and Chelsea who have all expressed an interest in signing him because he wants to keep a promise he made to Paolo Maldini.

The pledge he made to the former Milan captain involves writing more exciting and glory-laden chapters in the club’s history just as Paolo did for more than 20 years, and giving him the armband for the last two games certainly helps.

Milan are keen to get him to agree a renewal after his first two excellent seasons in Italy, while the player understood the economic moment and waited patiently for his turn. His salary will go from the current €1.5m net per season to €4m which with bonuses can become €5m.

The final loose ends must be tied together which includes the duration of the extension and whether the new deal will expire in 2026 or 2027, but either way Maldini and Massara hope to conclude the talks by the end of the month.
