In a recent interview, AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw was asked about which player he associates the most with the club. The answer he gave made a lot of sense but was also quite unexpected.

Thiaw joined Milan ahead of the season and after a lack of playing time in the first half, he has been given the chance a lot more this year and he has impressed. So much that he was called up to Germany’s national team for the current break.

Speaking to the national team’s official channel, which you can read in full here, Thiaw was asked which player he associates the most with Milan. As stated above, the answer made a lot of sense but was also unexpected.

“Looking back, who I associate most with AC Milan is Kevin-Prince Boateng. His two goals against FC Barcelona and against FC Arsenal made me go into raptures. I was very young, I saw the games on TV and I thought: Wow!”

Kevin-Prince Boateng quickly became a fan favourite at Milan and he certainly had this ability to score stunning goals. In the videos below, you can take a look at the goals Thiaw is referring to.

  1. Fans nowadays throw the word “great” so loosely when describing a player.
I like KPB, but he wasn’t great. He wasn’t even very good. He was an OK player who couple times a year will have a viral moment.

    1. Relative to the other scorers on those squads he wasn’t the best but I have a feeling on today’s squad he’d be a standout.

    2. True. If he were great, he’d lift the level of this current team. But the truth is that he wouldn’t have been able to do that. He was one of the many players that benefited from Zlatan’s presence. Another great example of that would be Nocerino.

    3. I agree z its dubious to call him great i feel the same when people or media toss around the word that players are club legends. There are few legends as i see it like baresi, maldini, van basten, rivera and nordahl. A lot of star players nevertheless came through the club that might be legends in their own right but just not ac milan legends,
When that is said boateng did have some great games for us like against barca and the 3 goals scored against lecce that saved us from a disastrous and humuiliating defeat,
