A club like AC Milan is always well-represented at the international level and over the next few days, we will see the extent of this.
Milan have only played 11 Serie A games so far this season – it would be 12, had it not been for the incident in Bologna – however, we are already at our third international break of the season. A break every four domestic games give or take.
Whilst the amount of games in a league season is not changing, the amount of other fixtures is, and footballers are rarely given a chance to appropriately rest. Unfortunately, it seems that the problem will only worsen before it gets better if it is to do so.
Instead of focusing on that, though, we can instead look at the players who will represent Milan today (November 14) and what each game could mean.
As we published before the start of the break, there are 15 players currently on International duty, and three players should play today.
Samuel Chukwueze
Benin vs. Nigeria: 18:00 CET, Abidjan (Ivory Coast) – AFCON qualifiers
As things stand, Nigeria are unbeaten in their qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations. Having beat Benin 3-0 at the last time of playing, a similar result will be expected, and Samuel Chukuweze will be looked to for inspiration.
Theo Hernandez & Mike Maignan
France vs. Israel: 20:45 CET, Saint-Denis – UEFA Nations League
Milan’s French duo will both likely be starters for Didier Deschamps’ side this evening as Les Bleus look to pile pressure on Italy ahead of their clash next week. A point will effectively qualify them for the latter round of the competition, but a win is expected.
Did Milan sell Pulisic and Musah yesterday? Since this article does not list them as Milan players in international matches today. US v Jamaica is today at 8 EST.
Haha!! I’m not sure they even know CONCACAF exists. Show love for all of our Rosseneri or none
