TMW: Bournemouth make stance on star defender clear to Milan and Juve

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have been linked with Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly in the last few weeks. They are keen on reinforcing the defence in January but, as a report claims, the 25-year-old will not be allowed to leave mid-season.

Pierre Kalulu’s injury has forced Milan to evaluate the options on the Mercato. Kelly was already on technical director Geoffrey Moncada’s radar, eyeing him for the summer. In recent weeks, the Rossoneri have probed the ground for a Jajuayr move instead.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Bournemouth have made it clear to both Milan and Juventus that they won’t sell Kelly in January. They are willing to let him leave for free in the summer, prioritising Premier League salvation (which is worth a lot).

Moncada and Milan will have to focus on signing him for the summer, therefore, continuing the talks but with a different approach. Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior now appears to be their primary target for January, eyeing a loan deal with the Gunners.

As for Kelly, he will likely have many offers on the table amid the expiring contract. Juventus will probably be willing to offer a higher salary, meaning Milan will have to explain the benefits of their project.
