AC Milan are considering a summer swoop for Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, according to the latest reports.
Widespread speculation from a number of different outlets has suggested that the Rossoneri will confirm Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo as the successor to Gennaro Gattuso later this week.
Giampaolo is believed to be keen on bringing a current Samp pair with him to San Siro in Joachim Andersen and Dennis Praet, both of whom have ironically been linked with Arsenal.
He is also keen in bringing a former favourite to Milan though according to TMW, with the Switzerland-born tactician keen on bolstering his midfield upon arrival.
Torriera had his big breakthrough under Giampaolo at Sampdoria in 2017-18, a season during which he made 36 Serie A appearances, amassing four goals and one assists from a deep-lying role.
And that particular position is one that the Milan leadership will be desperate to upgrade given its importance in Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 system, however Torreira does have a contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2023.
A move for the Uruguay international is described as a hypothesis that could become more concrete in the coming weeks, especially if Milan should generate some funds from sales.
The 22-year-old featured in 50 matches across all competitions in his first season at Arsenal, scoring twice goals and assisting five.
