Giampaolo is believed to be keen on bringing a current Samp pair with him to San Siro in Joachim Andersen and Dennis Praet, both of whom have ironically been linked with Arsenal.
He is also keen in bringing a former favourite to Milan though according to TMW, with the Switzerland-born tactician keen on bolstering his midfield upon arrival.
Torriera had his big breakthrough under Giampaolo at Sampdoria in 2017-18, a season during which he made 36 Serie A appearances, amassing four goals and one assists from a deep-lying role.
And that particular position is one that the Milan leadership will be desperate to upgrade given its importance in Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 system, however Torreira does have a contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2023.
A move for the Uruguay international is described as a hypothesis that could become more concrete in the coming weeks, especially if Milan should generate some funds from sales.
The 22-year-old featured in 50 matches across all competitions in his first season at Arsenal, scoring twice goals and assisting five.
