TMW: Milan will not sign Hernandez deputy with youngster set to step up

AC Milan are not going to sign a new left-back this summer to provide backup for Theo Hernandez as Davide Bartesaghi will be promoted to the first-team, a report claims.

As has been reported by TMW (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are no longer pursuing targets for that area of the pitch after being heavily linked with Riccardo Calafiori and Luca Pellegrini.

They are still trying to find a new club for Fode Ballo-Toure, the player that they were looking to replace with a new player, but the replacement will come from within the club.

2005-born Bartesaghi impressed Stefano Pioli and the fans with his performances in pre-season and the fact that he can play at left-back and centre-back makes him an attractive proposition.

The fact that both Alessandro Florenzi and Davide Calabria have shown they can play on both sides also means that even in the event Hernandez was unavailable, there will be cover in that position without spending more money.

  1. It’s funny how many articles we see with Bartesachi being Theo’s deputy but in reality we all know Pioli is going to play Florenzi on the left, like in the last game against Torino.

    1. I believe in the last 2 weeks or something pioli himself praised the player in a recent interview where he also implied he would like to promote more youth players to the first team.

      1. Pioli promoting youngsters :))))))
He will get very little play time at least until Florenzi will get injured again, we have many good young players at primavera but Pioli isn’t that kind of coach to promote youngsters.

        1. Im just saying what he recently said himself but of course he will only play some minutes here and there, do you actually think if we had bought a backup left back it would be much different ? fact is that most youth players in all clubs except feeder clubs are bound to fail and ends up playing in lower divisions or simply ends their careers at a young age.

  2. If Pioli can integrate him slowly into the team by giving him mins when things already wrapped up will be a good sign for youngster….he needs to absorb the pressure slowly but giving florenzi a chance at torino was completely opposite of what this article says…..that was a game where he should have been thrown in when game was wrapped up……its a bit risky move but fortune does favours the brave if young fullback can fully take his chances without adding too much pressure on himself.

    1. Im with you there meer and clearly when we have big leads its the best time to introduce youth players because even if they have a lousy performance its less unlikely to be detrimental to the victory. When that is said maybe pioli will introduce him after the roma and inter matches but at 17 bartesaghi really shouldnt be in a hurry either

  3. Will take injuries or suspension bar one player to Calabria, Florenzi, Kalulu , Theo……… And oh Krunic before this will happen

  4. We must give Simic, Bartesaghi and other youngsters much more minutes! Way more than now. There is nothing to afraid of as proven by Kalulu and Thiaw
