Tomori admits a ‘delicate game’ awaits but assures Milan want a ‘perfect week’

By Isak Möller -

Fikayo Tomori is back in the starting XI as AC Milan will face Sampdoria at 12:30 CET today, having recovered from his knee surgery. It’s certainly a boost for Stefano Pioli and his men, who have first place in sight.

With a win today, the Rossoneri would leapfrog both Inter and Napoli in the standings, seeing as they drew 1-1 last night. It’s an extremely important game for Pioli’s side, therefore, with a chance to show what they’ve got.

Speaking to MilanTV and Sky Italia ahead of the game (via MilanNews), Tomori shared his thoughts on the task that lies ahead of Milan. He also provided an update on his own condition, which obviously is good seeing as he’s starting.

On the game…

“Today is a delicate game, we know. But we are ready and we hope to win it to complete a perfect week. How did we prepare for it? Like every match. We prepared it well, both defensively and offensively. We have to do the right things. I feel good, I’m happy to be back.

On his condition…

“I feel good, it was a quick and easy operation but I’m ready to get back on the pitch and help the team.”

Again on the game…

“We know it’s an important match, especially after the derby and the Coppa Italia against Lazio. We have to keep these emotions and put them in this match.”

On the emotions after the derby…

“The derby is the derby, the emotion is always very high and we have to bring this feeling to this match too,” he stated.

Pierre Kalulu has been playing alongside Alessio Romagnoli in Tomori’s absence and it must be said that the youngster has done well. In turn, this means that Milan could give Tomori more rest in the future when needed.
