Tomori ‘happy to be back’ and says Milan want to ‘close the gap’ with Juve

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the clash between AC Milan and Lazio this evening, Fikayo Tomori spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the task at hand. Having recovered from his injury, the Englishman is back in the squad for the first time since December.

Tomori sustained a hamstring injury in the game against Salernitana at the end of December and after a fairly long recovery, he’s now back at Stefano Pioli’s disposal. He will be on the bench for tonight’s game against Lazio, with Matteo Gabbia and Simon Kjaer in the starting XI.

Speaking to DAZN ahead of the game, as cited by MilanNews, Tomori shared his thoughts on tonight’s clash and what it’s like to be back in the squad. When asked how many minutes he can play, the defender provided a reassuring answer.

On his return…

“I’m happy to be back, it wasn’t easy to watch the games on the sidelines. In this period, the team has done well, we have gained some points on second place and today is an opportunity to close the gap even further.”

How many minutes do you have in you?

“Let’s see, I’m ready to go on the field. Let’s see. If I play 50 minutes or 5 minutes I’m ready.”

Milan will be looking to put pressure on Juventus with a win tonight, currently four points behind the Bianconeri in the standings. With Atalanta and Bologna taking on each other tomorrow, the Rossoneri could also cement themselves in third place.
