Tomori gives thoughts on Morata signing and working under Fonseca so far

By Oliver Fisher -

Fikayo Tomori has backed Alvaro Morata to be a success for AC Milan and confirmed that the Scudetto is the aim under the new head coach Paulo Fonseca.

Tomori was one of a few players that showed up to an event tonight to mark the official opening of the new Milan Store that is on Via Dante. For those of you that know central Milano, that’s the road between the Duomo and the castle.

It is the biggest shop that the club have by surface area and represents another step towards maximising the commercial potential of the Rossoneri. Tomori was there along with the likes of Davide Calabria, Samuel Chukwueze, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Pierre Kalulu, who has changed number.

The centre-back spoke to the journalists that were present at the event to discuss the latest issues related to Milan from the first week of training to the imminent arrival of Morata. MilanNews relayed his comments.

How are Milan changing with Fonseca?

“Yes, we have changed a lot. Obviously the coach. We have new ideas, a good atmosphere. We are working well, hard and we are excited now.”

The fans have asked you for the Scudetto…

“Yes, we want it too. The new store is beautiful, not only for the fans but also for us, because we know that we have many fans who want to be close to us, and this store is another way to be so.”

Today is ‘Morata Day’ – what do you think of him?

“I played with him at Chelsea. I know the qualities he has. He is a striker with speed, with strength and he can score goals. This is what we need for this season. It’s not confirmed yet but we are happy.”

In terms of experience, can Morata be Giroud’s replacement?

“We hope so. He’s a different type of player, with different characteristics, but yes, I hope, we hope that he can help us. We are excited for the new season.”

What was the message you gave each other in the dressing room with the new coach?

“We haven’t talked much about the new season now because we don’t have all the players because of the European Championship. But as I said, we’re working well, hard, to try to do better than last year, as I said, with a new coach, with new ideas. We’re working well, we’re running a lot, but that’s normal.”

Did you speak to Tammy Abraham?

“We went on vacation together, but we didn’t talk about football, just general conversation.”

Theo, Leao and Maignan are staying at the club, what confidence does this give the group?

“These are great players, players who help us a lot. Yes, when Ibra says they are staying it is always a good thing.”

What are the most obvious changes compared to the past?

“We worked a lot, on pressing, on how we want to attack, defend, build from the back. Now we have to play the games and understand how we can improve, the intensity, the energy with the ball and without the ball. Let’s see when we play the first friendly against Rapid.”

  1. No AI talking about Morata stats here?

No ones going to talk about morata like we signed mbappe?

Cardinale must have forgot to pay the AI programers today

  2. Stats are the worst. I’m thinking about making a new product where I
    1. watch games and
    2. Mark when a player scores.
    3. Then add up the marks
    4. Profit
—I don’t have a name for it yet but its going to revolutionize how we value players. The ones with a lot Iof marks are the ones with more goals. If anyone is interested in investing, I’ll provide a link.
