Tomori’s hamstring injury a huge blow for Milan: the games he will miss

By Isak Möller -

Fikayo Tomori sustained an injury in the 2-2 draw against Salernitana and will miss some important games. Of course, this is a huge blow for AC Milan, especially considering how well the Englishman has played recently.

Tomori was forced to leave the game against Salernitana after suffering a hamstring injury. Tests later revealed ‘a myotendinous lesion of the right femoral biceps’ and the centre-back will be on the sidelines for around two months.

If Milan are lucky, then he could perhaps be back for the second leg against Stade Rennais in the Europa League. That game is scheduled for February 22nd and everything will depend on how Tomori feels, as the recovery could take ‘just’ a month and a half.

Either way, Tomori is certain to miss the games against Sassuolo, Cagliari, Empoli, Roma, Udinese, Bologna and Frosinone. It is also very likely that Milan will have to do without him against Napoli, Stade Rennais (first leg) and Monza.

Pioli will rely on Simon Kjaer and the youngster Jan-Carlo Simic in the meantime. Some reinforcements are also expected in January, and Milan have already secured the early return of Matteo Gabbia from the loan at Villarreal.
