Tonali admits final ‘seems distant’ but insists Milan will ‘give it all we’ve got’ – video

AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali knows that it won’t be easy to overturn the deficit against Inter and reach the final, but he believes that it is possible.

Milan come into the game knowing that they must score at least twice without response to stand a chance of qualifying for the final in Istanbul next month given that Inter have a 2-0 advantage from the first leg.

Tonali spoke to Milan TV on the eve of tonight’s game to assess the task at hand.

“I and all the other players are on the same line of thinking. It won’t be an easy game, it will definitely be a tough and complicated one, we all saw that in the first leg,” he began.

“But, we have to believe right from the start and play our game in order to score a goal and try turn things around. It will be a gruelling game. Things could definitely change if we score.

“Scoring means extending the game time more. Scoring a goal in football can change everything, games can turn on their heads including the tempo and style of play.

“We have to take the field with the desire to turn things around and play as we know how. This is what we’ll have to do on the pitch.

“We have to try focus solely on the game, what comes next – depending on the outcome – we can deal with later. We have have to think of going out there and giving our all for this shirt.

“We have to give it all we’ve got. It’s a dream for all players. National teams aside, it’s a players’ first dream to play and win a final so I believe it is what many if not all Rossoneri players dream of.

“Getting so close to the final is truly a good feeling and even more so with this shirt, so we’re almost there but at the same time it seems distant given the outcome of the first leg. We’ll need to give something more than usual to succeed.”
