AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is able to count upon a midfield pairing that cover just about all the attributes that he is looking for, a report has claimed.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) has dedicated a section to the masters of the double pivot for the Rossoneri: Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer. Against Dinamo Zagreb the two midfielders were among the best on the field, which is a constant theme of the beginning of the season and beyond.

The paper labels them ‘the couple of dreams’ stating that the midfield duo are ‘at the top’ and that they make ‘the Rossoneri’s heart beat fast’.
That statistics back up their importance too as Bennacer is second for recovered possessions, while Tonali is in sixth place for chances created. As a duo they are the fourth pair in Europe by performance after Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka (Arsenal), Pierre Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Betancur (Spurs) plus Marten De Roon and Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta).
With Torino next up on Sunday night, Tommaso Pobega could return to their starting line-up to ensure that Bennacer or Tonali gets some rest ahead of the crucial game against Red Bull Salzburg.
