Reports: Tonali rested and Florenzi shifted – latest training indications ahead of Milan-Empoli

As we move towards another crucial game in AC Milan’s quest for the Scudetto, some interesting clues are arriving from Milanello about the team that might face Empoli.

Andreazzoli’s Empoli were flying in the first half of the season and they nestled nicely inside the top half before the Christmas break, but they are without a win for 11 games. Given Milan’s struggles against the lower-ranking sides, it is one more reason to keep concentration high.

Calciomercato.com report how there has been a lot of concentration, dedication and intensity in the two sessions at Milanello this week, because the team do not want to slip-up after the excellent win against Napoli on Sunday.

Theo Hernandez will be missing through suspension and to replace him Pioli is thinking of moving Florenzi to the left for his experience, deeming him more reliable then the natural left-back Fode Ballo-Tourè.

As MilanNews are also reporting, Sandro Tonali could rest for the game thus meaning Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer are in the double pivot and Brahim Díaz would be the playmaker, called upon to give an important signal after some poor performances.
