CM: Tonali is a future Milan captain as period of adaptation bears fruit

By Oliver Fisher -

Sandro Tonali is living the dream at AC Milan and last night provided possibly his best individual moment in a Rossoneri shirt as he scored a last gap winner against Lazio.

Calciomercato.com report that Tonali has been playing for at least a month with a pain that has affected him both in training and in matches but he did not pull himself out of contention and instead was always ready to fight in the middle of the field for Milan and his team-mates.

Indeed, Tonali is a silent leader of this squad despite his young age and despite a first season at the club that wasn’t without its difficulties. The first few months at Milanello served well to accustom him to the pressures, his new team-mates and the ideas of the coach.

These are details that are making a difference and are being seen on the field through consistently warrior-like performances, ones that will eventually lead him to become the new captain, perhaps even from next season considering the certain farewells of Romagnoli and Kessie.
