Tonali highlights what Milan have been lacking in the Champions League

By Oliver Fisher -

Sandro Tonali believes that all AC Milan are missing in the Champions League compared to the league is a bit of knowledge and experience in extracting results from games.

Tonali spoke to the media after this afternoon’s training session at Milanello on the eve of Wednesday’s trip to the Spanish capital –  with his comments transcribed by MilanNews – and he was asked what Milan have been missing in the Champions League compared to the league. Milan have won 10 of 13 games in Serie A, but they have won zero of their four Champions League fixtures.

“All the teams have more experience than us, here there are many players who are playing in the Champions League for the first time. Even in the first leg they were very clever, as in the incident of Franck’s yellow cards. We have to grow on this, we are missing it. a few small things, but our games have always been of a high level,” he said.

In addition, Tonali was also asked about his own personal growth given that he has really kicked on from what was a difficult first season following his high-profile arrival from Brescia. He needed a period of adaptation due to the pressures of playing for a bigger club with greater expectations, and also tactically in switching to a double pivot.

“I’ve grown a lot, I’m doing what I didn’t do last year. I have to continue like this, without being fooled by compliments,” Tonali said.
