Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao are not only the two players who were decisive in AC Milan’s win over Hellas Verona on Sunday, but they might also be the two most fitting symbols of the project too.
According to Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), the Italian midfielder and the Portuguese winger are the perfect testimonials of Elliott Management’s philosophy, one which has meant that Milan are now competing for major honours again.
After a season with some difficulties following his arrival from Brescia, Tonali made it clear that he is a different player this season compared to 2020-21 from the first day at Milanello. Something clicked in Sandro’s mind after becoming a permanent Rossoneri player and now he is not only the future of Milan but also the Italian national team.
Leao has made a real leap in quality and consistency that many had been waiting for after a first couple of seasons in which we saw glimpses of his potential. Now, the management aim to reward him with a new contract until 2026 or 2027 with a significant increase in his salary.
At the moment he earns €1.5m net per season and it is necessary for Milan to get it sorted ASAP, because there is no shortage of admirers abroad and for some time clubs like PSG have been enquiring with his his agent Jorge Mendes.
