AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali believes the team have what it takes to reach the Champions League knockout stages and also revealed his hope that Ismael Bennacer renews.
Milan have a big game on the cards as they will face Salzburg in the final round of the Champions League group stage and – thanks to results in the last round – a draw would be enough for the Rossoneri to advance to the knockout phase.

Pioli’s side ran out 4-0 winners in Dinamo Zagreb after Salzburg had been beaten at home by Chelsea which means that Milan jumped the Austrian champions into second spot in the group, and only a win for them away at San Siro would see them through.
Tonali spoke during an interview with Amazon Prime Video that was filmed on the eve of the game against Salzburg at San Siro and was released this morning, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
On qualifying for the last 16: “Why can we reach the second round? We have one more season inside us, we have more experience in Europe and we are more mature. This in Europe does a lot. Already this year we have felt it on the pitch.”
On Bennacer: “Isma is a point of reference for everyone because he gives us a lot of time and we often look for him. I don’t know about the renewal, but I hope they find an agreement because he is fine here with us and we love him.”
On the renewal of Pioli: “We congratulated him this morning, it is important for us to know that he is there and that he is not in question. Having such a point of reference on the bench is important for every single player. For me it was, because we have been on a journey together in which he helped me and I thank him again for this.”
On the Champions League: “Every now and then I happen to watch videos of past years that are very important for AC Milan in the Champions League, and yesterday I happened to rewatch the videos with Ancelotti on the bench. And it gives you those emotions that you are experiencing.”
On returning to winning the Champions League: “It all depends on us. You just have to play every game to win it and this can lead us to great goals.”
