AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will welcome Sandro Tonali back into the fold for tomorrow night’s game against Atalanta, and the midfielder is ready to go.
Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) dedicates a segment to Tonali who was among the protagonists of the Scudetto win last season. After missing the first match against Udinese due to injury, Tonali is now ready to return to the pitch as a starter against Atalanta.
After Franck Kessie’s exit, Tonali will hold the keys to Milan’s midfield. The former Brescia man will certainly have a heavy weight of responsibility on his shoulders but he has already shown last season that he has broad shoulders to be able to bear it.
Pioli hopes to welcome a mature player back into the double pivot to partner Ismael Bennacer, but also one who is incisive in the box as seen by the goals against Lazio and Hellas Verona which contributed significantly to the 19th league win.
Now Tonali will have to maintain those levels, first of all at Milan – who made him master of the midfield – then in the national team with Roberto Mancini focusing on him for the rebirth of the Italy squad.
