Tuttosport: Atalanta could block early move to Milan for Sportiello – the latest

By Isak Möller -

As Mike Maignan’s recovery is proceeding slowly, AC Milan are evaluating the idea of bringing in Marco Sportiello earlier than expected. However, it’s not certain that Atalanta will agree on this, a report claims.

Milan have already secured Sportiello’s arrival for the summer, as his contract will expire then, but it might not be possible to bring him in already in January. As per Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Atalanta could reject the idea.

Gian Piero Gasperini, the Bergamo side’s manager, feels it will be difficult to find a new reliable second-choice goalkeeper and thus is reluctant to letting Sportiello leave in January. Depending on the condition of Maignan, this could be bad news for Milan.

The next 10-15 days are expected to be decisive but it’s already clear that Maignan will miss the game against Salernitana on January 4. If it were to get worse, then Milan will surely attempt to convince Atalanta to let Sportiello leave.
