Tuttosport: Chelsea’s firm stance sees Milan’s chances of signing defender decrease

By Oliver Fisher -

The chances of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen joining AC Milan during the current transfer window have dropped considerably, a report claims.

Milan boss Stefano Pioli currently has just Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio and Matteo Gabbia as fit centre-back options, meaning that the Rossoneri are desperate to sign reinforcements in January.

La Gazzetta dello Sport stated on Friday that Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban have identified two potential targets; namely Danish international duo Simon Kjaer and Andreas Christensen, with the former set to join imminently.

The paper then claimed that Milan are looking to sign the latter on a loan deal with an option to buy which has left the Stamford Bridge club ‘perplexed’.

However, Frank Lampard poured cold water on speculation that Christensen could leave Stamford Bridge this month in his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game against Burnley.

Now, newspaper Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it) are essentially confirming Lampard’s words. They claim that Christensen is a target for Milan and a player that the club like very much, however Lampard has no intention of letting the 23-year-old leave at present.
