Tuttosport: Four European clubs show interest but De Ketelaere’s will is clear

Several clubs have shown an interest in signing Charles De Ketelaere from AC Milan but the player does not seem to want to entertain the idea of leaving.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it) recalls how it was a little less than a year ago on 3 August 2022 that De Ketelaere came to Milanello for the first time after endless negotiations between Milan and Club Brugge.

Things did not go well in his first season at the club with no goals and just one assist in over 40 appearances, which has led to speculation that he could well be sold this summer for the right price.

The paper confirms that Milan would consider selling but an offer of at least €28m is needed to avoid making a loss on the accounts after a year of amortisation.

However, no club have put that figure on the table at the moment, even if there has been some interest from clubs like Aston Villa, RB Leipzig, RC Lens and above all PSV Eindhoven.

For his part, the Belgian does not want to end his adventure at Milan after just one bad year and would like to have a second chance to demonstrate his potential.

The 22-year-old will approach the new season with a clean mindset to try and show that he is worth the €35m that he cost. He will resume training this week and will try to convince Stefano Pioli to bet on him again.

  1. Even if he makes 2 or 3 goals next season, it would be considered a flop, unless he can make decent number of assist like KDB in epl.

    1. brah you cant just throw KDB numbers in there and say if you dont do that you’re a flop.. There are like a handfull of AM that can make those numbers.
For CDK even diaz numbers (6g7a) next season would be overachieving

      1. I mean role model like KDB where his assists is greater than scoring but dunno if it must be the case of him in serie a

    2. Unless he produces KDB numbers?!?
This is like the silliest statement I’ve read or heard in a long time!
How many ppl in this world can produce such numbers?!? Maybe Kvara… and who else?!
      Are you insane?!
If he scores 3, 4 goals and produces 5, 6 assists it’ll be great, but way more important would be his overall effect on the gam, especially the attack!

  2. No need to be like KDB.

Just 10 G/A is considered improvement and can be build upon. So if Pioli see improvement in training, maybe just give him chance.

  3. If we really play with 433 (altho I have my doubts), then CdK’s role would be even less and less important. Emotion and hope aside, the logical decision is to part ways.

  4. He needs to think about his career and not be stubborn or emotional about it.

By all accounts we are not playing a dedicated #10 anymore. While one of the mid 3 will be more attack focused, the reality is that CDK already wasn’t a #10. He’s falling further down the list if the going spots are all deeper/more box to box.

Go to Villa. Great coach and very solid team. PSV develops stars for run. 2 very good options especially if they want you.

    1. I agree – If he’s determined to stay then he will have to turn the corner. If not, then we can put him on the list and he’ll be more likely to want a move.

  5. Hmmm….Pioli shud give him a chance, play him as starting striker the whole season with the new additions and let’s see if he’ll bag some goals. I just don’t understand where the club brugge CDK disappeared to.
