Tuttosport: Ex-Chelsea boys shine at Milan as flurry of goals in Europe continues

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan won last night against Slavia Praha thanks to goals from Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who continue to show themselves to be men for the big occasion.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, the two players are – together with Olivier Giroud – among Milan’s top scorers this season and they picked out a common trait in their headline: ‘AC Milan have fun with the Chelsea Boys’.

All three were purchased by Chelsea, a club that are seemingly becoming a precious reservoir of talent for the Rossoneri. In addition to Giroud, Pulisic and Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori cannot be forgotten either given he revolutionised the way Stefano Pioli’s side play.

Speaking of Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic, the paper added that the two former Blues were also decisive on the evening in Prague, with goals and assists.

Pulisic scored the first goal and provided the assist to Leao, while RLC took care of the second goal but also freed the American for the ball to Leao for the third goal too.

The midfielder is Milan’s top scorer in 2024 and has now racked up four goals in four Europa League matches. Pulisic is behind only Giroud in the scoring charts across all competitions for Milan.

  1. I do wonder, if chelsea fans are seeing them and feeling regret for losing them, or if they know they would have never put in these numbers at chelsea. Goes to show, is it the players talent, the league, or the manager? Or all three or a combination? Just a thought but as fans we can be very happy to see them put this output!

    1. nah, football isnt like video games. each player has their own style, and sometimes they dont match premier league kind of play. same reason italian players usually dont do well in premier league, and same reason tomori and loftus cheek not called by national team

maldini and co done well at scouting and figuring which players are good even though they are subs/unused by clubs

hope we can maintain 2nd place and win the europa league

      1. I beg to differ for the England NT call ups, it’s Southgae that is an idiot. He keep calling unperforming players that’s close to him rather than the in form players.

For example, he keep calling Henderson and Kalvin Phillips instead of someone like James Ward Prowse, Curtis Jones, Harry Maguire (when he was the joke of MU) rather than other CB like Tomori, and the list goes on. It’s borderline nepotism.

    2. I have read comments of regret in regard of Pulisic and especially Tomori which was quite widespread when he was sold. I think Loftus and Giroud was rather well liked by the fan base so maybe to some extent.

    3. Pulisic had an extended period where he was one of the best players in the ELP. Also scored a perfect hat trick. The answer is yes he can play in the ELP when he has health and confidence.

    4. Chelsea keeps buying new toys and throwing away the old without giving them a chance to really gel.
Funny thing is everyone they buy is a pretty competent football player.
Take sterling for example.. he produces half of his numbers at Chelsea. He’s not a bad player, tho i don’t like him. He hasn’t forgotten how to play ball. The issue is elsewhere. The issue is the club. And once he leaves he’s gonna do better again. Go figure

  2. In 7 months as Milan players in their first season:
    RLC 9 g, 2 a
    Pulisic 11 g, 8 a.
    Compared to:
    Brahim Diaz 18g 15 a in 3 years
    Messias 12 g 5 a in 2 years
    Saelemakers 10 g, 14 a in 3 and a half years.
The upgrade is more than obvious.

  3. Pulisic is above all an intelligent player. He almost always makes the right decision, knows what to do with the ball and has a very sophisticated reading of the game. These are extremely important and relatively rare qualities in a footballer.
