Tuttosport: Giroud experiencing best ever start to a season as Milan work on renewal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has had a fantastic start to the season at domestic and international level, showing himself to be in top form.

Giroud has five goals with Milan (four in the league and one in the Champions League) and one with France that came a few days ago against Austria, and Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes that this is his best start to a season in a long and decorated career.

The paper highlights how the Frenchman has always provided great performances in terms of sacrifice and work for the team, displayed perfectly when he took Milan on his shoulders in the game against Sampdoria when the Rossoneri were down to 10 men after Rafael Leao’s red card, earning and scoring the decisive penalty.

Due to the various injuries that have hit the forwards, the 35-year-old has had to start seven games in a row and at the resumption of the season on Saturday in Empoli he will again lead the Milan attack.

Giroud is proving to be a great leader and an example to follow for all the other players in the squad but his deal expires next June, so the management have been working for a few years now to extend his deal for another year – therefore until 2024 – as a reward for his efforts.
