Tuttosport: Ibrahimovic takes on Scudetto-leading role as Milan teammates lack silverware

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, at the age of 40, is by far the most experienced player in the current AC Milan squad. His presence has been decisive ever since his arrival in 2020 and they need him now more than ever.

With just eight games left of the season, Milan have the Scudetto in their hands as they are currently three points clear at the top. As stated by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Ibrahimovic is more than a leader, he’s also a point of reference for the Scudetto.

Ibrahimovic has won 11 national titles in his career and 20 of Milan’s players, along with manager Stefano Pioli, have won zero. Four players in the shape of Maignan (Lille), Bakayoko (Monaco), Giroud (Montpellier) and Tatarusanu (Steaua Bucharest) have won a national trophy.

Then there is also Brahim Diaz (Real Madrid) and Lazetic (Red Star Belgrade), but they certainly weren’t protagonists in winning the trophy. The inexperience in the team, therefore, is evident in this regard and Ibrahimovic now needs to lead the way.
