Tuttosport: Ibrahimovic’s season almost certainly over as Milan evaluate future

Zlatan Ibrahimovic recently sustained a calf injury and it seems like he will miss the rest of the season. A huge blow for the Swede, who had just recovered from an injury and his future is now indeed in limbo.

Ibrahimovic has made just four appearances for Milan this season, initially recovering from knee surgery and then the injury he sustained while on international duty. And for next season, Milan are unlikely to bet on him again.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), a calf injury of this nature almost always takes a month to recover from and given Ibrahimovic’s age, it will probably take even longer. His season, as such, is almost certainly over.

As said, Milan are unlikely to renew his contract for next season given the minor impact in this term. It remains to be seen if Ibrahimovic will take up a managerial role or if he will return to Sweden this summer.

  1. What a mistake if they let him go. His impact off the field is greater than the impact of most players on the field. Additionally he is one of the top jersey sellers which more than pays for his contract. Milan is finished if they don’t resign him.
