Tuttosport: Leao to lead the attack in first preseason games – he is playing for his Milan future

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao is playing for his future at the club as head coach Stefano Pioli expects a lot from him, according to a report.

Several reports have claimed that Milan are ready to consider any offers for Leao with the interest of Marseille, Wolverhampton and Everton and Borussia Dortmund mentioned over the past few days.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes that Leao is playing for his future with the Rossoneri. In the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to injury and while waiting for Olivier Giroud and Ante Rebic to get back from their post-Euros holidays, it will be up to Leao to lead Milan’s attack in the first friendly matches of preseason.

As he has stated several times in the media, head coach Stefano Pioli expects a lot from the young Portuguese forward, who has had two inconsistent seasons at Milan so far but has certainly shown his potential.

    1. Well, “leading the attack” in this article means to striker position bro.. so Hauge is not even mentioned..
But I do agree that Hauge > Leao absolutely for future of Milan..

      1. I know, but I would still rate Hauge higher than Leao even in that position
hopefully he can finally experiment with some new formations in friendlies, so why not try that formation we had against Rio Ave again and play “w/o striker” like he did with Maldini (the faux 4-3-3 that Liepzig uses and quite often turns it into a 4-2-2-2)
Free-flowing Hauge in attack with 4 of our lads keeping the defenses busy might make that bald-headed coach of ours change his mind about the kid

  1. It will be his 3rd seasons with Milan hoping he can perfom better ,no more inconsistency.i believe even that happens, pioli has a big trust on him. It’s totally different to Hauge which is bad decisions to let him go.
