Tuttosport: Maignan responds to fake stories the way a champion should

By Oliver Fisher -

Mike Maignan returned to the field after 161 days of absence during the 2-0 win over Atalanta on Sunday, and he took the chance after the game to address some rumours.

Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) recall that Maignan was out for a long time due to a nagging double injury to his left calf and subsequent problems with muscle recovery that went slower than expected as a two-month absence ended up lasting over five.

Some defamatory and totally false rumours began to circulate on social media and on WhatsApp about Maignan’s character with some suggestions that he had become addicted to narcotic substances.

This damaging speculation inevitably reached Maignan as well, who wanted to silence the fake news once and for all by posting a photo of himself on his Instagram story with the caption: “My only drugs: faith, work, victories.”

Maignan responded as a true champion should to the gossip, and to those who had questioned the moral integrity and professionalism of one of the best in the world in his position.
