Tuttosport: Milan could accelerate for €10m striker as Pioli gives go-ahead

By Isak Möller -

Stefano Pioli wants a new striker and one of the players at the top of Milan’s wish list is Alvaro Morata. He’s an experienced player, also in Italy, and the Rossoneri could make a move amid the low price tag.

Olivier Giroud will not be able to play every single game from start to finish next season and Milan thus need to sign a striker. Of course, it’s also due to the fact that Divock Origi has been a big disappointment thus far.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the name of Alvaro Morata has gathered steam in the last few days and Pioli has given the go-ahead for the move. Milan are tempted, especially since there is a €10m release clause.

Morata also lowered his salary with the recent renewal with the Spanish side and is now within reach for Milan. Gianluca Scamacca and Lois Openda are also options for the attack, but they are rather expensive compared to the 31-year-old.

This past season, Morata bagged 15 goals and assisted an additional three for Atletico Madrid.

    1. Certainly what I was thinking, too. Morata needs service from the midfield and wings to score. Milan needs to sign a top quality midfielder. Loftus-Cheek, for me, is a replacement for Bakayoko, not Tonali. If Openda is that good, get him. Morata will be an added striker. We have Rebic and Origi to offload. These owners are still thinking cheap, get something worth it. Last season we had at least 10 players that were not playing regularly, because they were not good enough. We cannot continue this trend.

    1. Fernando Torres managed to get one goal in Milan (in half a season). Morata would definitely beat that by playing the whole season with 0 goals to show for.

  1. Expensive = quality. Cheap = burden.
Morata is a burden. I’ll not watch matches with this dude in the line up. Even if he goes and scores 30 goals in a season, still wont watch.
    I’ve enoug of this sh!t
    Anyone but foking Morata, man.
I’ll take Kalinić again over Morata

    1. Giroud was cheap, still held up pretty well at Milan at his ripe old age… Having said that, I’m not a fan of the Morata move…

      1. so was Ibra. Both proven, old, but WC strikers..
Morata is a joke. He was being passed around his whole career. Nobody wants him. I wonder why

    1. How dare you compare Morata to Hubner.

      LOL.

Morata wishes he could score with the regulatory Hubner did.

In fact, from his last 6 or 7 seasons I doubt Hubner dropped below a number that Morata ever matched at his best.

  2. I hope Inter hijacks this one, too, but of course they won’t.
I really, really don’t like Morata, especially since we already have Giroud. So, both our main strikers will be old and slow.
    Just keep Colombo.

    1. Yep. Colombo, please. Use the Morata money elsewhere. Or flush them down the toilet. Still more useful way of spending money than buying him.

  3. Whoever comes in as a striker ,they will not replace the class of Olivier Giroud ,yes of course he needs a back up ,but don’t see Moriata being able to do that ..
I still believe we need a very strong tall fast and skillful midfielder ,,,Loftus cheek ? I do like him ,but again question marks about his fitness, which is a huge concern …if he stays fit ,then he can be a huge asset for us ! …If we get a couple of good signings not rejects ,then we will challlenge for honours again next season ….I am tipping Olivier Giroud to have his best season ever for us …..the last two have been a success. Giroud is class and if he gets the right service he will score goals against any team in the world both for us ,AC MILAN ,also for his country France .
I have confidence we will do well next season …We have one of the best managers anywhere, what poili has achieved with very limited budget is outstanding..
We have got money to spend from sale of Tonali .
    So let’s spend …

  4. i’ve read thart Fiorentina are negotiating Retegui for 15m…..let that sink in…..Italy’s starting striker, a different style of player to Giroud…for 15m

    And where are we?

    1. Wow. Retegui for 15M€ vs Morata for 10M€ (+ insane wages)? Moneyball? Are you alive? Moneybaaaaaalll? Heeellloooo… I think that thing is broken.

      1. Moneyball is just excuse to be cheap and if they flop owner will blame computer is broken & got wrong data bcs of it

  5. I’m not buying it. He’s on high wages and not eligible for growth decree tax discount. Would be uncharacteristic for this ownership.

  6. Bad decision if true. It is like repeat mandzukic or origi signing. Better all in budget for striker that can score goal vs small team in league

  7. Cardinali. Pioli think they just can call a player and say come to play, for milan? Whose is the fuck they think they are? Any good player needs a legend not clown to convince him. Now Maldini is out. On other hand Pioli/cardinali are nobody in the world of football

  8. I dont think he is too bad for the money. He knows Serie A, has international experience, is the captain of Spain, and this year had 18 goal involvements. Yes he is 31 – but that’s 6 years younger than our current striker. For 10m, its a very good deal.

  9. Just buy back cutrone from como. Cheaper and yeah like the comments will score more. Oh and seeing as we are getting the new bakayoko replacement(loftus) we might aswell sign fabregas from como too 😂😂 fuck it lets sign paul mullin from wrexham!!
