Tuttosport: Milan could have bought Real Madrid playmaker on ‘favourable terms’

By Oliver Fisher -

A report has suggested that AC Milan could have secured Brahim Diaz on a permanent basis from Real Madrid but that the club decided not to do so.

Brahim spent three years on loan at Milan from 2020 to 2023, with an initial one-year loan then followed by a two-year spell, but he returned to the Spanish capital last summer and has since kicked on to be an important player under Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spaniard has always expressed his gratitude to Milan for the role that they played in his development but he never hid a desire to one day go back to Los Blancos and achieve his dream of playing for his boyhood club.

Tuttosport have published an article about the dismantling of Milan’s 2021-22 Scudetto-winning side, and they remark that Pierre Kalulu and Sandro Tonali have now left who were pillars of the side, as were Franck Kessie and Alexis Saelemaekers.

They add an interesting piece about Brahim Diaz, stating that he ‘was not bought out despite there being excellent chances of doing so on favourable terms’, suggesting that there was a negotiation to be had with Real Madrid but that the option was taken not to.

There was no option to buy clause ever mentioned in the official communications, though many reports said that there was one in Milan’s favour but also a buy-back in Real’s favour.

  1. Madrid would have triggered it right away. Pointless article
If Madrid bought Mariano back from Lyon why wouldn’t they get Diaz back

  2. We kept complaining about his inconsistent form, misplaced passes and how easily he was pushed off the ball in the build up.

Diaz needs a cast better than himself to play better. He was never a protagonist.

  3. His wish was to go back to spain, he has his heart set on return to Madrid with hope to make the Spanish national team but so sad he was ignored and force to play for Morocco. Milan actually want to retain him.

Same with Mastour Italy u20 kept ignoring him and for him to have national team football he join the Moroccan national team

    1. That went really well for Mastour didn’t it as he played a few minutes in 1 match for Morocco and has never played again for them after 7-8 years and now is 25 years old or something. Not only that all the places he has been at he hasn’t really been able to cut it and up until recently he played in the Moroccan league 1 and 2.
Great technical ability for beach football or juggling in a circus but not really a football player.

        1. Whether you like it or not it isn’t an insult but simple facts. The guy shot himself in his own foot and after that he wasted his technical gifts for a quick international match and ended up playing in Greece and Moroccan 2nd and 1rst league basically with no success.

  4. Acmilan should work on their attacking midfield now we Chaka Traore, musah and benercer. Loftus cheek is not an attacking midfield at all. And we have serious matches like intermilan,Venezia, Liverpool.

  5. Are we deleting comments now with no explanation? No criticism of the article allowed? Is this you Oliver or a problem with the site that just happens to be censoring my comments on multiple articles?

    1. I think its a technical issue as my first comment also ended up in moderation and I’ve only experienced this another day recently where several of my comments ended up in that status. I could see the comment but doubt others could as it had written something like “in moderation” at the top of what i wrote.

  6. Osimhem đang bị bỏ rơi ở Napoli sao chúng ta không tận dụng cơ hội tuyệt vời để sở hữu anh ấy nhỉ? Galatasaray cũng muốn mươn anh ấy.
