AC Milan wanted to make it five consecutive wins last night but ultimately failed quite clearly, as Fiorentina dominated the game and won 2-1. The Rossoneri, as such, failed the pre-London test.
As stated by Tuttosport this morning (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri looked lacklustre from the start and lacked the necessary attitude to beat Fiorentina. In the first half, for example, La Viola had nine corners and Milan had zero.
It was clear that the absence of Rafael Leao hurt Milan’s creativity a lot when going forward, but it’s equally as clear that the inattention was back in defence. It’s exactly what Stefano Pioli didn’t want ahead of the Tottenham clash on Wednesday, with a mere 1-0 lead on aggregate.
Milan will need to pick themselves up and completely change their attitude, as Ismael Bennacer also highlighted after the game. It’s the only way to come away with a good result and advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
