Tuttosport: Milan eyeing Feyenoord star again amid doubts over current duo

We are only in mid-October, but the AC Milan directors are already beginning to plan for next summer with particular focus on how the centre-forward department looks.

According to what is being reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews) this morning, there could be some big changes in attack for Milan ahead of next season because both Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic are currently in the balance.

If one or possibly both were to depart (the former is on loan, the latter has a deal expiring next June) then a big investment would be needed to bring in a quality striker to work alongside the summer signing Alvaro Morata.

The first name on the list is Santiago Giménez of Feyenoord and the Mexican national team, who scored four goals in the first seven games of the season before being sidelined by a serious injury that will keep him out until the end of 2024.

Gimenez was a name that was mentioned in the summer as a potential option alongside the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko, and he recently admitted that a deadline day attempt was made.

“The last day of the transfer market was very intense for me. Especially the last hours. AC Milan became very concrete for me, but the deal could not be closed due to the short time and the asking price of Feyenoord,” he said.

“Milan is a dream club for me. I grew up with players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaka. In the end, it didn’t happen, but the fact that there is a lot of interest already gives you the feeling that you are important. For me, of course, the door to Milan is still open.”

However, any future move for the 23-year-old will obviously depend on how Abraham’s season goes and whether there are the margins to sign him permanently if he gets back to his best, given he arrived on a dry loan.

For now, the Englishman has only scored one goal from a penalty and his gesture of ‘stealing’ Pulisic’s spot kick against Fiorentina did not please Fonseca and the club at all. However, there are still many games ahead to make up for it and convince Milan.

  1. Keep Abraham no matter what, we already have him until the end of the year.

Upgrading on Jovic on the other hand is a must, even more now that we need 4…

    1. Why would any top player come to Milan? We went from semi finalists of the champions league to not able to win a game. Theres is obviously no ambition to win anything. Quality players want to win trophies which is something that escapes this management.

      1. We did get morata. Idk if he counts as a top player, then again what’s a top player anyway. And those names you want to mention are way beyond our budget

  2. We could have got Retegui who is a similar type of player for cheaper and who is already proven in Seria A. Also give Jovic a chance, he has scored more goals in one season than Abraham in 2 seasons in a two striker setup.
