Tuttosport: Milan keenly observing development of midfielder and have ideal role in mind

By Oliver Fisher -

Given AC Milan’s excellent start to the season and the level certain players have been performing at, it is easy to forget about one of the club’s summer signings in Yacine Adli.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive) recalls how the Rossoneri signed the 21-year-old for around €10m including bonuses, but decided to let him develop for another season in Ligue 1 and therefore loaned him back to his previous club Bordeaux.

Adli is being followed by Milan’s scouting team in order to monitor his progress, but the paper writes that the speculation he could terminate his loan and arrive in January have no substance.

That is because his future is not at all linked to that of Kessie, given they are very different players. The Ivorian is known for his physicality, while the Franco-Algerian is a more technical midfielder.

At Bordeaux adli seems to have found the perfect role playing as a pure attacking midfielder, as their head coach Petkovic is using him as one of the playmakers behind the striker in the 3-4-2-1 system he likes to play.

Therefore, the report writes that Pioli could use him as an alternative to Brahim Diaz in the role of playmaker, albeit with different characteristics from the Spaniard. Adli is an attacking director with a good end product, but also knows defensive responsibilities too.

  1. That guy is clearly a midfield dictator and will fare well with either Bennacer or Tonali in the double-pivot role from what I’ve seen of him so far.
