Tuttosport: No discounts given – Milan not worried about De Ketelaere as clubs line up

Atalanta will soon have to make a call on Charles De Ketelaere’s future and the AC Milan management are not looking too kindly on the idea of renegotiation.

According to this morning’s edition Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Atalanta’s option to buy De Ketelaere expires on Friday 14 June. The figures agreed 23 months ago are as follows: €23m for the permanent deal, plus €3m in bonuses plus 10% on any future resale of the player.

Milan are awaiting contact from La Dea but they are not willing to grant any discount on the agreed price, especially after a season with 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. Despite his great form, Atalanta seem determined to ask for the figures to be lowered.

In the event of Milan’s refusal to negotiate, Atalanta would have two options. Either they keep a player who would happily stay having shown his true abilities under Gian Piero Gasperini, or they let the option expire.

Milan are not worried, because they believe they will get fair value for the Belgian regardless. In fact, foreign clubs have come back in for De Ketelaere and would be willing to make offers that certainly higher than the option to buy they agreed with Atalanta.

  1. Keep him don’t sell, he’s better than most of Milan attackers. With Lukaku they will form a deadly force in Italy with a mixture of young fast and old experience attributes Milan will be great again

    1. You don’t understand the system he needs to play in to succeed. Have you watched Atalanta this season or Milan the last?

Have you come to any conclusions?

  2. Not a very stressful situation for us IMO, we either get good money out of him to monetize our transfer window, or we keep a player that many complained we’re gonna lose.
Now, it’s not sure that he can succeed as a CF in a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3, but we shouldn’t succomb to Atalanta’s demands because of that.

  3. Just get the deal done so we can move forward with our mercato.
No more of the usual delays and missing out on targets please
CDK had a good season, not a great season, he fits well at Atalanta and still does not look ready for Milan

    1. Younger and more goals than Zirkzee last season but you want us to accept less than half the price tag? Absolutely not.

  4. If they play full clause then we have no choice, but don’t settle for less.

If Atalanta want to negotiate for less just ask for Ederson or Scalvini for straight swap.

  5. No discounts. They aren’t in a position to negotiate. And no, we shouldn’t take him back. CDK doesn’t have the mentality to play at Milan.

  6. Milan isn’t in the position to give discounts simply because they need to get the minimum of 22mil to avoid making a capital loss on CDK. The bonuses and the sell on would then be a pure profit.

  7. The extra benefit of selling him to another club and not Atalanta, you can get him away from a rival and out of the league. A weakened Atlanta helps Milan.
