Tuttosport: Milan player ratings for Verona win – multiple positive notes emerge

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan recorded their fifth win in a row on Sunday afternoon against Hellas Verona at the Bentegodi as they emerged 3-1 victors.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via SempreMilan.it) has their ratings from the game, starting with the rearguard. Mike Maignan got a 6 out of 10 having denied Swiderski on two occasions, while Davide Calabria got the same for showing ‘lots of dynamism and also a hint of confusion’.

Pierre Kalulu also received a 6 after making his first start in 140 days, showing ‘good discipline’, while Fikayo Tomori made some crucial interventions and was given the same score.

Theo Hernandez got a 7.5: ‘First half as a pure raider, every run threw the Gialloblu defence into panic. Determined and lucky in the run that led to the 1-0, provocative in the celebration that cost him the yellow card, with suspension against Fiorentina’.

Ismael Bennacer was awarded a 6.5 for doing a good job in both phases, and the same assessment was made for Tijjani Reijnders who was given the same score.

Christian Pulisic scored a 7: ‘Hit the crossbar in the first half, got a tap-in to reach 12 goals for the season in the second half: personal best. Lots of invention, but also the missed tackle on the ball which was well exploited by Noslin’.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was ‘clumsy when the Veronese doubled him in ball possession’ and like Pulisic did not do enough for Noslin’s goal, so he got a 6.

Rafael Leao scored a 6.5 despite missing the opportunity to make it 3-1. With Theo dictating the game on the left wing, he still made chances and you could also see him sacrifice himself in coverage.

Noah Okafor was given a 6.5: ‘His second start as a centre-forward after Cagliari, a super Montipò (together with the crossbar) was needed to deny him a goal’.

Olivier Giroud and Yunus Musah both got a 6 off the bench while Samuel Chukwueze scored half a point more for a magnificent volley that opened his Serie A account.

Finally, a 6.5 went to head coach Stefano Pioli: ‘Milan were masters of the match and victim of the usual amnesia that could put everything back into play. Nonetheless, substantial proof’.

  1. Okafor man, his finishing needs work all his movement shows where he is gonna shoot. luckly pulisic made some insane run and positioning to tap in.

But i love him, hard working intense pressure at the front. superb workrate, and fast too. the CB cant keep up with him interm of speed. maybe ibra can shape him abit, then we wont need to buy a 9 for next few years

  2. I love Okafor. What a signing and what a player. His work rate and movement is ridiculously great.

I’m also hopeful Chukwueze will start to become even better. What a splendid goal that was to seal the three points.

All our new signings are starting to have more of an impact. Yes, some may take a while longer than others, but we should be pleased.
