Rafael Leao renewed his contract towards the end of last season and also decided to take the No.10 shirt following Brahim Diaz’s departure from the club. This upcoming season, the winger will have more responsibilities.
Leao was undoubtedly the big star for Milan last season, showing off his qualities both in Serie A and the Champions League. He got 16 goals as well as 15 assists to his name and signed the renewal towards the end of the season.
As highlighted by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the Portuguese star will wear the No.10 shirt next season and he will also have greater responsibilities. He will need to act even more like a leader for this young Milan side, using his qualities in the best way for the team.
There are few doubts regarding him ahead of the upcoming season, also based on what we have seen in the pre-season, but it’s still an important period for the winger. With a player of his calibre, Milan can certainly dream of the second star.
I will love adil with no.21, leao no.7, pulisic no.10, and chukuweze no.11, musha no.8 and LFC no.12
Yes brother I agree with you
I love what you said based on the numbers stuff
Another thing that gets missed in the transfer market frenzy is the impact new signings have on existing players.
Every new signing is disruptive, in much the same way if you work in any organisation and a new person starts that can have impact on your role.
So another question will be whether the signings actually cause existing players to decline. This has happened in the past:
– Stam’s transfer broke up the Maldini and Nesta CB partnership and might have played a role in us ending that season trophy less after we had won the Champions League and Scudetto;
– when Balotelli signed for Milan (which was a positive) El Shaaraway’s form immediately dipped as he was pushed wider.
A more attacking right side will inevitably impact the left side. In theory it should create more space for Leao (and Theo) but theory and practice don’t always align.
As usual, I hope I’m wrong.
