Tuttosport: Origi tests decisive as Milan could sign striker on loan in January

By Isak Möller -

Divock Origi has sustained a new muscle injury and he will be assessed in the coming days. These tests will then be decisive for the Rossoneri’s transfer market strategy, a report claims.

Milan currently have just Olivier Giroud available up front and the Frenchman played a lot at the World Cup. He will return just before the game against Salernitana and might not be in the best of shapes, or at least it might be wise not to overwork him.

Stefano Pioli had been hoping that Origi would be the one but he has been stopped once again. As per Tuttosport, via SempreMilan.it, the Belgian striker will be tested in the coming days and the recovery time will be decisive for the mercato.

Should he need a lot of time, then Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara could try to sign a striker on loan to cover for Giroud when needed. Marko Lazetic is also available, but he’s still very young and inexperienced.

Milan are reluctant to making a permanent investment in January, especially for the attack, as they intend to make a big one in the summer.

    1. I’m beginning to think this. Our striker situation is becoming a circus and we still have other positions to sort out. Just give Lazetic a chance. Start him against Salernitana and see what he can do while giving Giroud a rest until Roma. What’s the worst that can happen? He doesn’t score? Even Giroud doesn’t score every game.

      1. Well, Maldini Massara, I think always do the best for Milan. Origi was kind of player to be best match for Pioli. They approach and sign him for free, but he still have big salary. If he continue to struggle in next 6 months, we have Lazetic, Colombo, we dont need Origi.

It takes time for Milan to earn the money and reinvest in all other positions to sort out what you writing about.

      2. “What’s the worst that can happen?”

We don’t score and drop 2 or 3 points due to that. Milan cannot afford to drop points against team like Salernitana.

  1. Is bringing Colombo back early not better than finding a brand new player who needs to fit in on a weeks notice?

Origi being out is sort of a non-situation – Was he ever ‘in’? What exactly has he produced? If what I’ve sen is what we’re missing with his absences all we need is a player who’s willing to run a bit. CDK would probably relish the chance to play up front, and Colombo would deliver the same attacking threat as Origi ever has. I bet Lazetic would too… If he cannot be used against Salernitana when the 3 strikers ahead of him are injured, then he needs to be in the primavera…
