Tuttosport: Roma want to sign Turkey international from Milan; Arsenal, Leicester also linked

By Oliver Fisher -

Serie A rivals Roma are interested in the idea of signing AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu in January, according to a report.

The Turkey international seemingly faces an uncertain future with the Rossoneri despite being an almost permanent starter under current head coach Stefano Pioli.

Calciomercato.com recently reported that Calhanoglu’s departure in January is a possibility, citing interest from Leicester and a €20m price tag.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror are claiming that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is interested in the idea of signing the former Leverkusen man as he aims to bolster his midfield this month.

The outlet claims that Milan are happy to sell Calhanoglu as they are looking to raise funds to ‘remould their squad’ following a disappointing start to the campaign, while the player is ‘keen to move on’ given his Euro 2020 ambitions.

According to Tuttosport though – as cited by Calciomercato.com – the Gunners may face competition as Roma are also interested in signing Calhanoglu.

The Giallorossi are in a fight for a top four spot but have found their midfield depth exposed this season with a number of injuries, and Paulo Fonseca is seemingly keen to address that interview.
