Tuttosport: The plans for Giroud’s arrival as Maldini greets him – “Olivier is a champion”

By Oliver Fisher -

Olivier Giroud’s move to AC Milan is about to move from being speculation to official, as the striker is due in Italy later today.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes this morning how after a long negotiation between all the parties involved, an agreement has been reached. Paolo Maldini remarked yesterday: “Olivier is a champion, a reliable player who will bring experience to a very young team.”

Milan have always considered the Frenchman to be their first choice striker target, and are ready to welcome him. Giroud is expected to land in Italy this evening and tomorrow he will undergo his medical before signing a two-year contract with the Rossoneri, and then he will join Pioli’s group on July 26th after a few more days of holiday.

Milan strongly wanted Giroud, agreeing to pay compensation to Chelsea of €1m plus €1m in potential bonuses – figures which do not change the fact that this is a low-cost operation to bring in a man who has won virtually everything.
