CorSport: Two-year extension and a pay rise – Milan and Pioli show their mutual trust

The new arrived yesterday that Stefano Pioli has renewed his contract until 2025, showing the commitment from all parties to keep the project moving forward.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports the details of the renewal of Pioli, whose previous contract would have expired next summer. The club extended that deadline by another two years, until 2025, and as part of it the coach will net a pay rise to €4m net per season plus bonuses.

The target of the Rossoneri and of Pioli himself is that of continuity in results and in development of the project. The Diavolo and Pioli are a close-knit couple that have become increasingly linked over time, as he stated after signing.

“It’s something that got inside me. Great emotion and great responsibility, but always accompanied by great energy. I’m happy to coach Milan and to be with our fans. This always makes me give my best to achieve the best possible results,” he said.

One of the aspects that Stefano Pioli has always emphasised since he became Milan coach was to create a path to follow made up of steps to be reached one by one. A return to Europe came in Pioli’s first year, in the second season they qualified for the Champions League, then last season brought the Scudetto.

Despite winning the league, Pioli does not believe that the team have hit an end goal but instead insists the growth potential is still very much there.

“The call was great news and this gives me more energy. I’m proud of what we are doing together. Our path still has goals to achieve,” he said.
