AC Milan forward Rafael Leao recorded the third-highest sprint speed of anyone in the Champions League group stage matches in 2022/23, a report claims.
Speed ratings published by UEFA show that only two players in the whole of the Champions League group stage recorded a higher sprint speed than Leao.
They were Barcelona’s French forward Ousmane Dembele and Shakhar Donetsk’s Mykhailo Mudryk who both clocked a speed of 36.6km/h whereas Leao managed 36.5km/h.
The Portuguese was not the only Milan player who made it onto the list as Theo Hernandez was down in 10th with a speed of 35.7km/h.
The other players in the list in descending order of speed were Real Madrid’s Fede Valverde, Marseille’s Nuno Tavares, Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davis, Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby, and Benfica’s Rafa Silva.
That means that Milan are the only team to have two players in the top 10 and they certainly have the paciest left flank.
Yes. Speed is everything. Just ask Kjaer who has been on the pitch during one conceded goal this season. ONE!
