Venezia director confirms interest in signing Milan defender: “It takes patience”

By Oliver Fisher -

The technical director of Venezia has confirmed that the newly-promoted side are interested in AC Milan defender Mattia Caldara.

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have the task of finding new accommodation for the players that are no longer considered part of the technical project, which in turn would boost the transfer kitty either through the fee received or even through wages freed up.

Caldara is one of the players that seems to be destined for an exit as things have never really worked out for him since his arrival at the club in 2018 as part of the operation that saw Leonardo Bonucci go back to Juventus.

The director of the technical area for Venezia – Paolo Poggi – was interviewed by La Nuova Venezia and briefly took stock of the market for the Leoni, confirming that Caldara is of interest to them.

“It takes patience, but our work continues. Everything moves, it is enough to understand how and what, and we are careful to understand how to proceed on the market,” he said (via MilanLive).

“Niang and Caldara are interesting, but they are not closed negotiations.”
