Vitiello: Ibrahimovic has held talks with Conte over Milan job but no agreement

By Oliver Fisher -

There have been contacts between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antonio Conte over the idea of the latter becoming head coach for next season, according to a report.

According to the latest from Antonio Vitiello on his YouTube channel, in the last few hours there have been some ‘significant contacts’ between Ibrahimović and Conte.

He adds that it is no secret that the Swede ‘wants the Italian to be Milan’s new coach next season’, however no agreement between the parties has yet been reported.

Moreover, there are no confirmations from Milan regarding the news but that is to be expected, given that the season is still ongoing and Stefano Pioli is in charge.

It comes after TeleLombardia (via FootballItalia) reported this morning that Conte has accepted the terms offered by Milan and that he will take over when Pioli leaves the club, which is likely to be at the end of the season.

They also stated that talks with Ibrahimovic over the role were key, given the mutual respect the pair have for each others’ work and careers.

At this point, we must state that the information we have is that Conte is not a candidate that the Milan management are considering due to various factors, including his demanding nature and his salary.

  1. Just more B.S. by Conte’s people in the media, really trying to force this move on to the team. Ibra should be smarter than this, and Cardinale definitely should be smarter than this.

  2. That’s more like it. I believe in having had talks but not that it’s all agreed upon.

I just see it difficult for Milan to come to terms with Conte’s demands, salary transfer requests.

I still think Motta is a more viable option.

    1. There’s just not a plausible scenario that of all the available coaching positions, Klopp would chose to coach in a decrepit league that Serie A is becoming… Just ZERO appeal.

      1. Serie A had a team in the CL final last season. @ in the final 4, and 3 of the final 8. More than any other league. Also a team in the final of the Europa League and the Europa Conference League. And Inter is a top 3 team in the world right now (unfortunately).
Think you are being a little harsh on Serie A.

  3. Conte is not an upgrade on pioli, just like motta, i wouldnt mind conte joining our rivals, I agree pioli’s time might be up, but if we are not upgrading its waste of time and effort to change, we want a coach who will push the team to a second star, and pushes us to atleast ucl quaters, anything less than that pioli can still deliver effortlessly, we are tired of new projects, new players, new everything, consistence pays and brings stability, juve and inter have been doing the same things for some time now, no wonder they cant be beaten, if allegri was milan coach people would have asked for him to be fired for an emerging coach like italiano last season, if inzaghi was milan coach fans here would have asked for him to be fired the season milan won the title for another new upcoming coach, im not saying pioli shouldnt leave, but continuing the project with pioli is better than some names being thrown around, conte is the same, seems he is rigid to change, unless he has changed, only with a european top level coach is worthy the change, others its still gambling, we dont want another wait and see situation, we need guarantees, else delay the change if you dont afford it, milan is big, bigger than pioli, bigger than all these guys, a few guys can meet milan’s expectations

    1. I agree with you. I was pro Conte for a while but I think his formation and tactics will rip what is a very good squad apart. It’s got to be Klopp, I’d love Carlo back too so either one is fine. Motta has done nothing and Conte although a winner, wins for a couple of years and then leaves a path of devastation
