Watch: Colombo scores brace to fire Italy U21s to win over Ukraine

By Oliver Fisher -

Lorenzo Colombo got his name on the scoresheet for Italy U21s tonight, scoring what could well turn out to be the winner against Ukraine.

The 21-year-old started up front and the score was 1-1 in the 71st minute when he saw a shot by Neshcheret in the Ukraine goal before a rebound hit the bar and bounced back to the on-loan Milan man, and this time he brought it down and fired into the bottom corner leaving the keeper with no chance.

The second goal came minutes later as a teasing cross from the left wing met Colombo’s head around the penalty spot and he overpowered Neshcheret despite him getting a hand to it.

    1. Possibly because Retegui scored at the senior level and not for the under-21s against arguably better opposition. Not saying Retegui is the solution but one can easily argue why he would be a better addition over Colombo at this stage of their careers.

      1. Agreed. Retegui, Giroud, Colombo sounds mich better than what we currently have with lots of room to grow and shouldn’t be that expensive.

  1. many times i already said in the article, colombo its rare left footed striker in italian football. i think hes got the talent. but i dont know how the management use big money for origi the clown.. hehehe

  2. IMO Colombo has shown enough quality to deserve a try in the Milan squad. He literally can’t do worse than Lazetic. Also… Colombo has already twice as many goals in the Serie A than that “Liverpool legend” Origi.

  3. There is no doubt Colombo has to come home next season.
    He is a fine talent
We need a new striker in their prime
Colombo should be 2nd choice and get plenty of minutes
Giroud will hopefully stay as 3rd choice
Thats the kind of mixture we want in attack.

Most importantly get rid of Origi.
    Ibra can be assistant manager
