Watch: Kessie fails to double Milan’s lead vs. Lazio as penalty strikes the bar

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan had the chance to go two goals up just before the break against Lazio as they were awarded a penalty. Franck Kessie was brought down in the box and stepped up to take the penalty himself.

Unfortunately, the Ivorian hit the bar and thus failed to double the Rossoneri’s lead. Rafael Leao scored the opener after a lovely one-two with Ante Rebic and Milan have looked very solid thus far.

You can take a look at the penalty miss below. Of course, it’s typical that Kessie misses a penalty just as the renewal talks are at a crucial stage.

Sarri should put some lotion on his elbows

This #traitor is betraying us on the field as well…

    Sell this damned #betrayer now!

Footballers can be disappointing. Your salary got tripled but you refused to renew and let such hang over your head during match day.

The best bet is to bench him henceforth. Pioli should stop pussyfooting, else these renewal soap operas would corrupt the core of the team.

This game shows us that we dont need kessie. even he wants to go he can go.

u can see he CANNOT focus ingame, just like Romagnoli/Calhagnolu/Dollaruma last season when they decide to go or not. he is not the tank like he was last season

Bench him, like play 10 minutes per game

After watching today’s match, I can say that Milan have done a good job in the transfer market. This squad now has a good depth. Beginning to understand that Romagnoli was not sold because we will have a lot of quality football this season and we need top squad for all games.

Knew he would miss. Didn’t want him to score anyway.

Well, sorry to say that but Kessie is irreplaceable atm. No one is ready to put the same impact on a game. After subbing him we struggled a lot, lost control in the center, and Lazio could have scored. If we started without Kessie the result could’ve been totally different. Like imagine last 20 min of the clash lasting 90.
Bakayoko is still not ready yet. Bennacer is great but very different type of player and still recovering from injury. Tonali was amazing tonight but without Kessie he couldn’t do a lot.

I hope Frank signs the new contract. But at least use him for every cent of his current contract. Just because work is a work and we should use what we have to achieve our club goals. Season is long and challenging. We should focus on resources and convert his 2.5 mill salary into something instead of looking for revenge.

    Thanks mate
