Watch: Kessie uses brute strength to hold off several Atalanta players – “Franck the tank!”

By Oliver Fisher -

One of the best moments of Sunday’s 2-0 win over Atalanta was when midfielder Franck Kessie held off several players in the closing minutes down by the corner.

With Milan protecting a 1-0 lead, the Ivorian – who scored the opening goal from the penalty spot – took the ball near the corner flag and succeeded in keeping possession for what seemed like an eternity, which was absolutely vital in the scheme of things. You can even see Brahim Diaz shout “FRANCK THE TANK!”.

He would eventually take another penalty to double the advantage, and perhaps his ball-protecting skills contributed to the frustration that saw Martin De Roon get sent off after the incident.

  1. Amazing how much journalists can leave a wrong picture on a player, what the journalist writes are outdated methods from 1990 when players were called gods and other names like tiger, lion dragon elephant .. I think this is unnecessary for a club like Milan . These are very young players and they still have to learn and they should not be given the image that they are invaluable and that they cannot do without them. This is exactly what happened in December, individuals rose through the newspapers and then these players started playing only as much as they needed on the field, so Milan fell and lost first place. I hope that the management of Milan will have this in the box before the new season and explain to the players that they are workers on the field and that Milan pays them and they have to play with their heart and give 100% of themselves in every game. Players receive 3-4 million a year for 8 games a month with the Champions League, that’s 300 thousand euros a month..a terrible amount of money and it’s a shame that they don’t play 100%.. and Kesie is not a tank, he is just a guy with strong muscles who gives 100% strength to Milan … sometimes
